Atlantic City Bringing in More Slot
Machines
Atlantic
City, New Jersey has long been thought
of as Las Vegas East or as the Slot
Machine Capital of the East – either
moniker used to work. However with so
many other states now offering slot
machines, it is quickly losing that
title, and instead, there are others
that could now hold it instead. For
example, Pennsylvania with their tens of
thousands of slot machines, or the
Foxwoods or Mohegan Sun resorts in
Connecticut. The fact of the matter is
that competition for slot machines is
fierce.
But AC knows this. They also know that
with the addition of all of these other
slot machines and the economy the way it
is, their numbers have been drastically
reduced when it comes to slot machine
revenue. So they have been trying every
trick in the book to try and get more
slot machine players there, but it seems
that it was the simplest thing of all
that brought them back.
The casinos in Atlantic City have
realized that by giving their players
penny slot machines that they are coming
back in droves. The fact of the matter
is that people want to play the slot
machines, but don’t necessarily have the
money to play them anymore. So instead
they give them penny slot machines which
lets them put in a very small amount of
money and play for a very long period of
time.
In giving slot machine players a way to
play for longer, they have also
discovered that they have given
themselves a much needed shot in the
revenue department as well. They found
that while their revenue overall
continued to decline, the penny and two
cent slot machines have found their
revenue going up 8.4% over last year.
This means that they are bringing in
millions by the penny – and loving every
minute of it.
