Lone
Star Wants Slot Machines
Lone Star
Park wants to be competitive and they
want to be able to survive. They know
that in order to be both of those things
they need to bring in slot machines.
They know that there is nothing worse
than watching both players and horses go
out of state because they can’t offer
slot machines to their customers and
clients because it is illegal. With
Texas residents saying that they want
slot machines, it might be time for the
state to start listening.
But right now the track is seeing their
parent company under bankruptcy
protection which makes their standing
even more precarious. They know that by
adding in slot machines that they will
be able to bring in more money and
better horses, thus leading to even more
money, for the track.
But they need legislators and residents
to say yes to slot machines and
therefore by association yes to their
track. The track makes money every year,
but would greatly benefit from the
additional income that the slot machines
would be able to bring in. They see all
of the states across the border simply
filling their tables and slot machines
with Texans and they know that they are
really missing the boat on bringing in
the revenue for themselves.
So far they have been unaffected by the
bankruptcy status of their parent
company Magna Entertainment, but they
wonder how long they can refrain from
the fray. It might not be long before
they find themselves fighting for what
little money there is to be had. They
might find that instead of the slot
machines being something that they need
to be better, they might need them as
something they have to have to survive.
