Navajos Adding More Slot Machines
The
Navajo Nation’s Fire Rock Navajo Casino
is doing well for itself, so well that
it is looking to add more slot machines.
The casino has only had their doors open
for the past four months, and already
they have been inundated with clients.
Because of their massive increase in
clientele, they need to add more slot
machines to keep up with the demand.
They are going to bring in another 135
slot machines, which will give them a
total of 681 to offer their clients.
They say that since the lines for the
slot machines are sometimes two or three
clients deep they knew that they had to
offer more opportunities for their
clients to play. They say that they have
had this problem since the slot machine
casino opened last November.
They said that they “don’t want [their]
guests to be waiting in lines” and since
the number of people waiting has
increased they knew that they needed to
add more slot machines. They said that
if they hadn’t they would have run the
risk of them going somewhere else to
play the slot machines instead.
The casino says that the slot machine
revenue has far outreached the numbers
that they originally planned for them.
They say that they have exceeded it more
than three times over – and that the
slot machines are so very popular that
they cannot believe their good luck.
Originally they thought that it might
bring in somewhere around $32 million a
year, which is about a fifth of their
annual budget. They say they have now
made in excess of $96 million.
