Happy Days Not
So Happy
So,
you are thinking that Happy Days was one
of the happiest shows on television –
and you might be right. As viewers we
found it to be entertaining, enriching
and informative. We couldn’t get enough
of the show that was a happy family week
after week and all problems were able to
be mended within the time span of one
show. The show has not been on the air
for more than 26 years and yet it still
influences the many aspects of our
television culture today.
With
that in mind, it seems that it would be
the perfect venue for a slot machine,
for who does not want to relive those
days? However, it would appear that the
days of the slot machine itself are not
so happy in nature as they are currently
looking at a lawsuit due to the fact
that one of the original cast members
saw their faces on the slot machine
without giving consent nor did they get
any revenue from it.
Supposedly Moran had contacted CBS who
told hem that they were not owed any
money for merchandising. Then they saw
the slot machine and CBS still
maintained no money was owed the cast.
However, the casts’ original contracts
said that they got 5% of 100% of net
proceeds. Now CBS refuses to show them
any income reports and five of the
actors from the show are suing for $40
million. Experts say that they are
probably going to get closer to $10
million as CBS now says that they only
owe about $9,000 each.
