Machines are Just Machines
When
people play the slot machines, they like
to come up with a variety of excuses as
to why they did or did not win while
playing. Sometimes they say that the
slot machine was “tight” or they had
been playing it for awhile so it was
going to hit soon. These ideas could not
be further from the truth.
The fact of the matter is that each slot
machine has what is called a Random
Number Generator, or a RNG. This device
determines when and/or if a slot machine
is going to hit. The RNG sends millions
of codes through the machine at any
given moment, so it all depends on when
you hit the button if you are a winner
or not. It does not have anything to do
with how long you have been sitting
there, it is truly luck.
There are no such things as “hot” or
“cold” cycles, a slot machine will hit
when it hits. Some people will play a
slot machine for a while and then leave
it only to see someone else hit it. They
think that had they stayed at the slot
machine a little longer they would have
won. Not true, they would only have won
if they pushed the button at the exact
same nanosecond that the other guy did.
If they want to change the payout on a
slot machine to make it “tighter” one
night – they can’t. They gave to submit
the paperwork months in advance, it is
not something they can do on a whim. The
slot machines are programmed to pay out
between 83 and 99% most of the time, and
whatever they are set at is what they
are.
Some people think it has something to do
with when they put their coin in, or if
they use cold or hot coins – one or the
other will “trick” it into paying out.
Again, the temperature of the coin has
nothing to do with when the slot machine
will pay out. It is truly life’s only
random act.
