Table
Games Must Be Delayed
The
lottery has announced that racetracks
will not be able to offer table games
because they don’t have the staff to run
them. They are in the process of
training more individuals to run the
games, but for now they just don’t have
the manpower, and won’t have it by Labor
Day.
The tracks were hoping to start offering
table games as of the beginning of
September, but now it looks as though it
will be more like November. They say
that they just don’t have the time to
get enough people trained in overseeing
the games – and it takes complex
accounting, security and regulatory
procedures to be able to handle that.
If Kanawha County voters approve table
games at the Tri-State Racetrack and
Gaming Center in Nitro, the number of
people they will need to hire will
increase. Which means even more
background checks and training will need
to happen. They didn’t start the hiring
process until the table games were
approved at the first track as they
didn’t want to hire someone and then
tell them they didn’t have a job.
Hancock County Commission says that not
only is it disappointing to many in the
area not to have them to play, but it is
financially hurting those that were
counting on a paycheck starting Labor
Day. Without the table games, those jobs
are not needed yet, and thus there is no
paychecks going out to those new
employees. For those planning on that
money, it will be a very difficult fall
for them.
