Mohegan Slot Machines Performing Well
Again
It seems
that the Mohegan Sun’s slot machines
have taken a turn for the better and
they are performing better than last
year. Unfortunately for Foxwoods, they
did not perform as well. The Mohegan and
Foxwoods had slow months for June, but
the Mohegan has rebounded where Foxwoods
has not.
In fact, Mohegan turned their profits
around from the decline that they had
the month before to an increase of 5.6%
over the previous year’s month. The slot
machine casino had an increase of $4.7
million over same time last year. From
their 5,902 slot machines, the casino
took in a total of $88.9 million.
Meanwhile, Foxwoods reported another
decrease for July, over last year’s
figures. They showed a 1.3% drop from
same time last year, for a total
decrease of $960,000. They brought in
total slot machine revenues of $75.2
million, which just adds to the slightly
declining revenues that the casino has
been showing over the past three years.
The casino thinks some of the decrease
has to do with the construction on the
major highway that people take to get to
the slot machine casino, as they say it
is making it more difficult for patrons
to come to their casino. There is also
more competition than there used to be,
and this will contribute to a decline in
slot machine revenue as well. With July
being the best month of the year,
traditionally, for the slot machine
casinos, this does not bode well for
Foxwoods.
