Talking Slot Machines?
So you
play the slot machines because you like
the quiet of it all – you don’t want to
play the tables because you would have
to talk to people, and horrors, they
would talk back – sound familiar? Well,
unfortunately for some people at
Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut,
their slot machines are soon going to be
talking to them as well.
Seriously, Bally Technologies has come
up with a way to have your slot machine
talk to you, so don’t plan on playing
alone for too much longer. Casino
management thinks it is a great idea,
and is installing the slot machines with
new technology that gives them the
ability to talk to you, congratulate
you, even suggestive sell to you all
through your slot machine.
All 7,200 slot machines at Foxwoods will
be outfitted with the new technology,
iVIEW from Ballly. The new slot machine
system will read your player’s card that
you put into the slot and personalize
your experience based upon your
preferences. They will know what shows
you like, what slot machines you usually
play, what you buy – basically
everything you use your card for.
The slot machine technology will take
that information and greet you by name
when you sit down, suggest a drink, give
you some sort of perk on special
holidays and birthdays, even going so
far as to offer video of a concert they
may have gone to. The slot machine
experience is about to change
drastically, maybe for the better –
maybe not.
