Machines Want to Move
The Chances Good Time Gaming Centre has
made application to city hall to be able
to move their location. They would like
to move from downtown Prince George, to
Treasure Cove Casino. The current City
Planning Manager, Grant Bain, confirmed
the move.
They are asking for zoning amendments so
that they can move their slot machines,
and Bain says that they don’t have all
of the necessary information yet to say
if it will be approved or not. Bain says
that when all of that information does
come in, they will be putting together a
report so that they can decide what the
best course of action will be.
Bain did not know why they were planning
on moving the slot machines, and said
simply that they would have to ask the
owner, John Major, what his thought
process was. Major owns both the gaming
centre and the slot machine casino.
The current gaming centre has 71 slot
machines, as well as bingo terminals, a
lottery centre, and a bistro. It made
more than $15 million last year alone.
They employ 100 full and part time
employees.
The year before the gaming centre
brought in $14.2 million – showing that
there was an increase in revenue for the
establishment. The new slot machines are
responsible for only $125,075 of that,
but they didn’t come into play until
March.
