Baltimore Slot
Machines are Coming
The
slot machines that are coming to
Baltimore
just got a little closer to their goal
as the casino developers showed off
their plans for the site. The Baltimore
City Entertainment Group showed off an
artist rendering of their Celebration
Casino and the initial reaction has been
very positive.
The
casino would have the slot machines of
course, but it would also have a buffet
style restaurant, a nightclub, a “chop
house,” and a bar. The slot machine
casino would also have the ability to
hold 5,000 people at a time, so it is no
small casino.
It
would look industrialized – so that it
can fit in with the area’s look. The
slot machines would be up and running
fro 8 am to 2 am every day of the week
and will employ 926 full time
professionals who would make an average
of $41,000 a year. Their annual payroll
alone would be $38 million. This of
course does not include the $122.5
million in wages and benefits that they
will have to pay the 2,332 construction
personnel that they will have to hire to
build it.
The
slot machines are expected to bring in
roughly $391 million a year for the
state. They say that they are expecting
to see revenues of $17.7 million to the
city, $3.3 in casino property taxes,
$2.6 million in hotel taxes and $4.6
million in property taxes. Residents are
excited and apprehensive at the same
time. They say that the money will be
nice, but what will come with it?
