Considering Slot Machines?
Mexico seems like one
of those places where slot machines
would be on every corner, but it is not.
There are visions of Cancun and beaches
and drinking and of course one would
think that slot machines would go along
with it, but slot machines are illegal
in Mexico. The law states that slot
machines are illegal but that electronic
bingo machines are legal. Go figure!
However, there is some talk that this
might be changing. There are a lot of
people in Mexico that would like to see
slot machines legalized in the country.
In fact, there have been communications
lately within the Mexican government
that are leaving a lot to the
imagination in terms of legalizing slot
machines. In fact many slot machine
manufacturers believe that slot machines
are going to be legalized and have
started making plans to move in and get
their licenses.
The Mexican Government Secretariat has
been sending letters to the Mexican
gaming operators stating that the law
actually allows for a large range of
gaming machines, including slot
machines. It says that not just bingo
machines are allowed and that it might
behoove them to bring in Class III slot
machines which are the same ones you
find in Las Vegas.
Mexico is badly in need of additional
revenue and their gambling needs a boost
so by allowing slot machines they would
be able to solve both problems. In
addition to simply seeing a down turn in
the economy they have also had to battle
the lack of people coming due to the
swine flu – and thus they have found
that slot machines are the way to
possibly bring them back.
