Mount Airy Shows Strong Slot
Machine Revenue
The Mount Airy Casino says that
nothing was really out of the ordinary
last week, except for the fact that they
had an 18% increase in their slot
machine revenues. They say that it was a
regular week for the slot machines at
the casino, but they had an increase in
revenues anyway.
This was the case for slot machines
around the state. Pennsylvania reported
that even though this is a traditionally
slow month for slot machines, they did
very well in terms of monies in. At
first glance it looks as though there
were many more clients coming to play
the slot machines, but instead it looks
as though it may simply be a case of
those that came were there to spend more
money than usual.
The Sands Bethlehem says that their slot
machine revenues for the month were up
5% to $160 million and they could not
have been more pleased. Across the
board, slot machine revenues were up
14%, but those casinos that were open
last year saw the smallest amount of
increase. Those casinos that were
running slot machines just this year saw
the biggest increase in their revenues –
most likely from those clients who are
just now getting a chance to come check
them out – while the regulars went on
vacation elsewhere.
Casinos say that in addition to an
increase in slot machine revenues, they
also saw an increase in the number of
rooms booked. This would also stand to
solidify the idea that most of the
people coming to the casinos were out of
towners – which would account for the
larger sums of money being spent.
Tourists usually spend more money at the
slot machines than those that have
access to them year round.
