Ohio Says Yes
and Here are the Rules
The state of Ohio had decided to
bring in slot machines to the racetracks
and many of their residents were not
happy about it. They said that they had
already voted them down and therefore
their elected officials should have
respected their wishes and found another
way to bring in money. When their
officials still refused to listen they
said that they wanted to see the rules
that would apply to the slot machines
and now the state has provided them.
The government issued the rules of the
slot machines as they pertained to the
tracks that they would be operating out
of. The state says that the tracks are
all required to spend $80 million to
improve how they look and what they have
to offer if they want to bring in slot
machines. The rules also determine how
they will run and where they will run.
The slot machines will be permitted to
run 24/7 but they must be placed away
from the racing wagering areas. They
also have to ensure that anyone who
plays the slot machines is at least 18
years old and it will be the tracks’
responsibility to ensure that this
happens.
There are various deadlines that have to
be met by the tracks as well, and if
they don’t meet them the state says that
they will have to pay large fees and
fines. The tracks must also monitor all
of the slot machines through a closed
circuit television system so that they
can see if there are any problems and
that they can see who is playing them.
