We’d Like to
Pay You but We Can’t
If a woman wins a suit against a
casino for a faulty slot machine it
would open a can of worms for all kinds
of problems. The way it stands now if
you are playing a slot machine and it
malfunctions, you do not win the amount
of money that it claims that you do. If
you are playing at a slot machine and it
has a max pay out of $10,000 and it
comes up and says that you won $1
million then you don’t get anything.
All of the slot machines have a warning
on them that say that the casino is not
responsible for malfunctions. This is
the way that it always is. However, when
a slot machine malfunctions and you are
told that you are not getting that
million dollars that you just thought
you were it can make you a little
cranky.
Cathy Torres of Las Vegas, New Mexico
says that she won more than $2.6 million
on the slot machine that she was playing
but that the casino refused to pay her
saying that it was a glitch in the
machine. She says she watched the icons
line up just right and the sirens went
off – and the slot machine said that she
won $2,685,666.
The casino told her it was a malfunction
and that they would not pay her. She is
suing them for breach of contract and
violation of unfair trade practices. She
says that she wants them to explain to
her how a computer chip malfunctions.
But this is a common complaint. There
are a lot of times when this is what is
going wrong and people want to know if
the casino is not being held accountable
for a faulty slot machine pay out, then
why should they be charged to play them.
They put money in and the casinos keep
it – they say that is just not fair.
