IGT Slot
Machines Doing Well
International Game Technology, long
known for their slot machine designs,
has had a very good year. The company
shipped over 30,000 less slot machines
than last year to international
destinations, but shipped more slot
machines in North American than they had
the previous year. Many of those slot
machines went to the Gulf Coast where
they are trying to rebuild.
IGT
has brought in more than 3/4ths of the
slot machines at MGM Mirage’s Beau
Rivage resort, as well as supplying
other casinos with slot machines as
well. With the demand for slot machines
that are above the rest going up, the
cost of each slot machine has risen as
well. The prices of slot machines have
risen 16%. The installed base of slot
machines has risen as well, going from
11,000 slot machines installed last year
– to 50,000 slot machines installed this
year. Each slot machine brings in steady
revenues that reached a high of roughly
$1.2 billion in 2006.
Profit margins have been increased with
operating income of the slot machine
giant rising 9% - much of that cash goes
to shareholders. The slot machine
company has been cautious but it seems
that there is not a need for that take
anymore. They may want to get a little
less cautious when promising slot
machines in the future.
