Mohegan
Sun Prepared for Slot Machine Addicts
The
state has not been living up to its end
of the slot machine addiction problem,
but the Mohegan Sun has. The state is
supposed to have assistance set up for
those who have a slot machine gambling
problem, yet the casinos are opening and
none of those programs are yet running.
The state seems to think that it is
alright for others to worry about the
slot machine addict problem, but that
they can take their time with it.
The
Mohegan Sun has all of its checks and
balances in place for the slot machine
addicts. Before they could open their
doors, they had to prove to the state
that they were capable of dealing with
slot machine addicts. They had their
employees trained so that they knew how
to deal with the slot machine addiction,
as well as putting up posters and
distributing booklets showing the signs
of a slot machine addiction for their
customers.
Experts say that the amount of slot
machine addicts will probably be small
for awhile, but as more and more slot
machine parlors open and the longer they
are open, the more addicts they will
find. Roughly one percent of all
Americans are compulsive gamblers, and
another two to four percent are in
danger of developing a slot machine or
gambling addiction. All they need is the
ability to get to the slot machines and
they will develop the addiction as well.
