Online Slot Machines Growing per Merrill
Lynch
According to Merrill Lynch, the online
slot machine and gambling industry is
about to grow more than it has already.
They were recently quoted in the UK
Register as believing that the online
slot machine and gambling industry is
going to be worth £270 billion by 2015.
This estimate is extremely large for the
online slot machine and gambling
industry, and no one knows how they came
up with these figures. However, if they
are right, this would make the online
slot machine and gambling industry the
fastest growing industry of our time.
Everyone can see that the online slot
machine and gambling industry is still
thriving, even though many thought that
it would not. The online slot machine
and gambling industry was dealt a hard
blow when the U.S. Unlawful Internet
Gambling Enforcement Act was passed. It
is too early to see what impact this act
will have on the online slot machine and
gambling industry, but many think that
if the demand from player remains
strong, so will the industry – offshore.
The online slot machine and gambling
industry includes poker, bingo, sports
betting, etc. and generated more than
$12 billion in 2005 alone. It is
expected to continue to climb to $16
billion for this year and $23 billion by
2010. An independent research group said
that the online slot machine and
gambling industry would be worth
somewhere in the vicinity of $22.7
billion by 2010 – so those number seem
to be right on. No one knows exactly
where Merrill Lynch is getting their
figures from.
Some think that they may be getting
their figures based on the fact that the
online slot machine and gambling
industry still has much room to grow.
With regulation being adopted towards
the online slot machine and gambling
industry in other countries, it may end
up that the US follows suit and relaxes
some of their laws against it as well.
