Straban Ok's Slot Machines

The Straban Township Zoning Hearing Board came to a unanimous decision in October to allow a slot machine casino to come into the commercial zoning district at routes 15 and 30. There are those that are appealing the slot machine decision, but the township thinks that they put enough conditions on it that there should not be any ultimate problems.

The Straban board reached their decision after six hearings, and is allowing the project as long as they follow ten conditions to bring in the slot machines casino. Employees of the slot machine casino are to be closely watched, with cameras covering every inch of the floor. They are asking for traffic improvements, landscaping, a berm and fence between the slot machine casino and the township’s recreational park.

They are also having each employee entering counting rooms checking in through two separate security clearances, and all slot machines must be wired to a state-controlled computer network that logs every penny gambled. The tracks are allowed to bring in up to 3,000 slot machines and will know by the end of December if their slot machine license has been approved to be a permanent license.
