Transmissive Slot Machines
WMS
has a new technology that they call
Transmissive Reels – and it makes for
one interesting slot machine. At the
Global Gaming Expo, WMS unveiled a line
of slot machines with technology so
advanced you know competitors were
jealous. Reels instead of video screens
– unheard of in slot machine territory!
WMS
brought out their revolutionary
technology at the expo to show people
that they are still a driving force in
slot machines. They had Monopoly Super
Grab which was unlike anything anyone
had seen before in slot machines. On the
slot machine screen there is Mr.
Monopoly walking his dog – basically a
little scenery on the glass in front of
the reels. However, once the slot
machine player advances to the bonus
round, the reels darken and the glass
becomes a full video touch screen. It is
completely interactive for the slot
machine player with rich graphics to
behold.
This
is not the first time someone has tried
to change slot machines to video
experience over reel spinning bases.
Anchor Gaming created the slot machine
Wheel of Gold, International Game
Technology created Wheel of Fortune and
WMS added bonus events with Dotmation
screens. Other slot machine
manufacturers like Bally Technologies
tried to put together video bonus and
three reel play by adding full video
screens.
However,
with transmissive reel slot machines,
WMS melds reels and video bonuses into
one package that works beautifully. When
faced with problems with the old slot
machines and their gaming platforms five
years ago – WMS had to create something
that they could be proud of as well as
herald their return to the slot machine
world. They needed to get people to
trust their slot machine products again,
and thus transmissives were born.
