Casinos Facing Violations
According
to the Colorado Division of Gaming, The
Isle of Capri, The Riviera Black Hawk
and the Golden Gulch Casino have all had
revoked slot machine software on their
casino floors – and now they will be
facing thousands of dollars in fines for
doing so. The software was revoked this
past May, but the three casinos have not
removed it from their slot machines.
The software is a tracking tool for the
slot machines that tells them how much
the machine has been used, and the
casinos use it to process their tax
related reports that they have to send
to the CDG. However, the CDG decided
that the software needed to be replaced
and the casinos had 120 days to do so
and failed to comply with their ruling.
The CDG revoked the software as they
discovered a glitch with it in that it
could not process amounts over 32,767
and would then jump to 94,901,760. The
software has not actually malfunctioned
yet in the casino, but they wanted to
have it removed so that they did not
have to worry about it doing it at any
point in the future.
The Isle of Capri had five slot machines
with the software, Riviera Black Hawk
had three slot machines with the
software, and Golden Gulch had one. They
will be looking at fines of up to
$25,000 per violation and from $250 to
$1,000 per slot machine. The casinos say
that the software does not impact the
way the slot machine operates in as far
as the consumer is concerned, but it
does impact the way money is processed.
