Slot Machine Idea Not a Good One
Interestingly enough, one would think
that the latest idea from slot machine
makers would have players chomping at
the bit to play them, but this does not
seem to be the case. Rather the opposite
has been happening, with players
avoiding the slot machines instead of
embracing them. It seems that players do
not like change all that much.
The idea is that players can have a
guaranteed number of pulls on the slot
machines by playing “Guaranteed Play” on
them. They would pay a certain amount of
money ahead of time, and instead of
losing when the money is gone, they can
play until the guaranteed number of
pulls is finished. This in theory seems
like a great idea, as it allows the
player to continue on the slot machine
longer than they would have been able to
otherwise.
When they were first rolled out, gaming
companies said that they were so good
that they were sure they would entice
those that did not normally play slot
machines to jump at the chance to play
them. In actuality, it had the opposite
effect, driving away the most die hard
slot machine fans as well.
The problem that most people have with
them is not only do they “just not seem
right” but that you have to continue
playing, even after a win. Normally you
can keep playing as long as you want,
and if you hit a win you can cash out
your slot machine and walk away. With
Guaranteed Play you have to finish out
the number of pulls that you signed up
for, so you cannot cash out even if you
want to.
This does not sit well for many players
as they want to walk away after they
have hit it, and not lose any additional
monies. However, the Guaranteed Play
slot machines no longer make than an
option.
