Faking
Your Own Kidnapping for Slot Machine
Money?
The
headline sounds too terrible to be true,
but it is. Not only is it true, but the
man responsible for it also kidnapped
his own 14 month old grandson to
solidify his claim. The grandfather of
the child has an addiction to slot
machines, and faked his and the child’s
kidnapping in an attempt to get money to
play them. He and his accomplice are
both slot machine addicts.
Allegedly the 53 year old man, Yimei L.
faked his kidnapping along with the help
of Jiantuan Y., and took the child with
him. He called a relative of his
son-in-law, the father of the child, and
told him that he and his grandson were
being held for a €50,000 ransom by a
woman. The father then contacted the
police.
Then Yimei called and put both of them
on the phone saying that this was proof
of their safety and that the kidnapper
had allowed them to call him. The third
call was from Yimei himself stating that
he had escaped and that he needed the
money to save the grandchild. When
police found Yimei, they questioned him
and he admitted the scam, and that they
were just trying to get money for their
slot machine addiction.
The police were then able to capture his
partner in crime, after she abandoned
the child in a grocery store buggy. She
said that Yimei was the mastermind of
the plot to get the money and admitted
the slot machine addiction.
