Machines Bring in Millions
According
to the recent numbers regarding the
popularity of slot machines, even with a
recession in play people are still
playing. With these numbers in mind,
several racetrack locations in New
England are wondering what their chances
are of scoring a few millions for
themselves by adding in their own slot
machines. Based on the numbers given, it
is possible for the slot machines to
bring in more than $150 million a year,
an amount that could be put to a lot of
use.
However, what is interesting to note is
the average income of those in the area
of the slot machines and how it pertains
to the revenues brought in. In
Connecticut, the Mohegan Sun and
Foxwoods brought in millions and are
easily the largest casinos in the world,
and their average household income last
year for their residents was $82,851.
This is considerably larger than those
at the Hinsdale Dog Track, which is now
closed, where they only made $59,950. It
only makes sense that if they are
surrounded by money, they will make
money.
But now Rockingham Park in Salem is
looking to bring in 3,000 slot machines
and is using the $150 million as their
benchmark. A consultant that has been
hired by the developers says that there
is a possibility of large increases in
income from the area, and add to that
the fact that Salem has a larger
household income and you truly do have a
recipe for success.
