New York Now Says Illegal

The state of New York has ruled that a new game is illegal for it is too much like a slot machine. The state has a long history of ruling that games are legal, then illegal, then legal – so at this point, many ae not sure whether the games were legal or not. However, this latest decision has many very upset for they thought they had finally heard the last on the slot machine issue.

The State Liquor Authority had ruled that the new Moxie Mania was legal because it was obviously a game of skill not luck. However, this latest ruling makes it illegal for they say that it is too much like a slot machine and it is luck based, not skill.

Two of the three commissioners ruled that the slot machine game was illegal, and they say that the manufacturer is incorrect in stating that it is a skill based game for it most definitely is not. Noreen Healy and Jeanine Green said that the machine was a slot machine and that they would be explaining their reasoning in writing. They said that the game was misrepresented by the company.

Chairman Daniel B. Boyle said that he felt they needed more information before they could make a decision regarding the slot machine type game. However, the manufacturers of the game, Pace-O-Matic Corp. have not responded yet. Thomas Donahue of the SLA had ruled it legal and that it is not a slot machine. However, now they have overturned their own ruling, and it is only a matter of time before it will probably be turned back again.
