Electrocutes Woman
How
would you like to be playing at your
favorite slot machine only to be
electrocuted? Not only that, but shocked
so badly that you had lasting damage
from it? This is the case with a woman
who was playing a slot machine at
Harrah’s Cherokee Casino and found
herself electrocuted from the slot
machine that she was playing.
Not
only was the shock enough to seriously
hurt her at the time, but it left her
with permanent damages to her right
hand. She was playing at the slot
machine when she felt the shock go
through her from her right hand, and it
left her with a loss of feeling in her
fingers that she still has. She had
inserted her playing card into the slot
machine and the shock was so strong it
knocked her to the floor.
The
slot machine attendants reported the
accident to the Defendant Manager on the
floor and the woman, Willie Jean
Robinson, was helped up by her friends.
But Robinson has never seen a dime for
her lasting injury and it took place
over three years ago. Robinson filed a
civil suit against the casino as well as
International Game Technology for
personal injury, lost wages, and the
medical expenses that she had to pay as
a result of the defective slot machine.
But
they can’t decide who is responsible, or
even where to hold the case. The casino
and the plaintiff have decided that the
case should be held in tribal court, but
IGT says that the tribe does not have
jurisdiction over their portion of the
case so they do not have to answer to
their court.
