Manufacturer Faces Fine
Ainsworth and Gaming Technology Limited
of
Sydney
has been fined by the Pennsylvania
Gaming Control Board for failing to file
a timely renewal application for their
slot machine manufacturer license. The
state has levied a fine at $13,200 to
the slot machine manufacturer as part of
their approval of a consent agreement.
The slot machine manufacturer was given
their license on August 27, 2008 by the
state to manufacturer slot machines for
use in
Pennsylvania's
casinos. However, under the Pennsylvania
Race Horse Development and Gaming Act,
slot machine manufacturers must apply
for renewal six months prior to the
expiration of their current license. The
company failed to do so, and was sixty
six days late in filing. Their deadline
for filing was February 27 and they did
not final until May 5.
The fine of $13,200 represents $200 for
each day that their application was
late. The Pennsylvania Gaming Control
Board has the authorization to levy
fines or other sanctions against any
applicant, licensed entity, or anyone
else who possesses, uses, sells or
offers for sale any slot machine device,
equipment or material within the state.
The slot machine manufacturer should
have filed on time, and it is unclear as
to why they did not. It could be simply
a matter of poor timing, or something
that simply fell through the cracks. It
could also have something to do with
finances. We will know soon enough if
they are able to pay the fine that they
are now forced to pay in order to
continue offering slot machines to
Pennsylvania State Casinos.
