Horse Group
Wants Slot Machines
There are some
residents wondering why
Kentucky’s
racetracks are able to get in a lot of
money but not have to report any of it.
They say that the race tracks have
worked long and hard to get the slot
machines brought in as they say that
they cannot compete with tracks that
have them unless they have them too.
They argue that the slot machines at the
tracks will not only bring in more
revenue for the track, but for the state
as well.
This will then
snowball as bigger purses are able to be
offered, better races will be run, and
the big name horses will be brought in.
This leads to even more money for
everyone. But not every one is convinced
that this is the way to go, and the
legislature is fighting it. But the race
tracks have been pumping a lot of money
into a campaign to legalize the slot
machines.
Not only have there
been numerous television ads in support
of the slot machines, but there has been
a lot of money pumped into the ads in
order for them to be possible. But the
race tracks are not coming forth to say
who it is that is helping fund their
campaign. And as of right now, they
don’t have to.
There is a group that
is fighting to bring in the slot
machines because they say that it will
keep jobs in
Kentucky
– but they do not have to tell who they
are being funded by under state law.
This leaves a lot of people who are
seriously curious as to who is so
invested in bringing slot machines into
the state.
