What is Maryland Doing?
Maryland
is having a tough time when it comes to
slot machines. The state wants slot
machines and the people voted for slot
machines, they just don’t like where the
state is deciding to put them. Each of
the locations that the state has tried
to put them have not been an easy
choice, but
Anne Arundel County
has really made it impossible for them
to move forward with the slot machines
in the area.
The
state has five locations to put slot
machines in as per voter instructions.
However, this is turning out to be a
real problem as the slot machines can’t
seem to actually get on the ground and
start making some money.
Ocean
Downs looks like it is going nowhere
fast. The owner bought 800 slot machines
and then refused to get any more as he
said that the state needed to drop the
tax. Cecil
County
could be a contender, they have
purchased the land and are moving
forward with their plans for a slot
machine casino.
Baltimore
City
is having issues with politics and
corruption – and who knows when they
will be able to get out of their own
way. It could be awhile before things
get sorted out as there are quite a few
problems with the people who are running
it and approving how many slot machines
they are allowed. Rocky Gap is another
one that couldn’t get rid of the mess
surrounding it, and it looks like it
could be awhile before they see any slot
machines there.
And
of course Anne
Arundel
County that is so
conflicted as to where the slot machines
could go because residents are just
saying no when it comes to their
building.
