PA Sees
Increase in Slot Machine Revenues
While some states are
saying that their numbers are way down
for slot machine revenues, Pennsylvania has actually
seen a significant increase over their
previous slot machine revenues and many
are simply astounded by it. They are
reporting a 27% increase in slot machine
revenues over what they had before –
which as you can tell when you are in
the millions of dollars that is a lot of
money for the state and for the casinos.
The state’s nine slot
machine casinos brought in a combined
$166.3 million in revenue, which comes
out to $91.5 million in tax. The state
says that they believe things are
starting to turn around for them after a
difficult couple of years of trying to
get them passed and then getting them
implemented. The increase they have in
slot machine revenue is 26.7% over where
they were last November, which is truly
a lot of money.
They report that for
the first five months of the fiscal year
they were looking at 25% over where they
were the previous year, which came out
to $485.3 million – compared to $388.2
million for the same time period one
year earlier. The Pennsylvania Gaming
Control Board says that they could not
be happier by the turn of events.
The money that comes
in from the slot machines goes for
several purposes, one being the
reduction of property taxes which is
bound to make their residents happy.
They will also give money to local fire
departments, economic development, etc.
– all things that they did not see being
able to do to such an extent based on
last year’s figures.
