Bingo Palace’s Slot Machines’ New Home
Quite a Sight
It
may not be the nicest building in town,
but it is certainly the largest. The new
Campbell River Bingo Palace is bringing
in slot machines, but some say it is
bringing them into the ugliest building
they have ever seen. Construction has
just gotten to the part where they start
erecting large concrete walls that many
find to be an eyesore.
The company, Playtime Gaming, which owns
the Bingo Palace, says that this is just
temporary, and that when the entire
façade is completed it will look
completely different. There will be
landscaping, and stucco, and all of the
things that are normally on the outside
of a building to make it look nice – and
that they have no plans to put an “ugly”
building in the middle of the area.
The town council approved the Bingo
Palace and their slot machines back in
2004, against much criticism from
residents. The business has been running
slot machines for almost a year, and
when the new structure is complete, they
will have more than 100 slot machines in
place.
Those groups that receive funding from
the slot machines think that the
increase in machines and the new
structure are exactly what the town
needs. Once the new structure is done,
the city will start receiving roughly
$440,000 in slot machine revenue
annually.
