Celine Dion’s Husband Likes the Slot
Machines
According to Norm Clarke’s
Review-Journal gossip column, Vegas
Confidential, Celine Dion’s husband,
Rene Angeli, is a slot machine addict.
Angeli is accused of spending $1 million
a week at the casino. This not only
comes as a surprise to many, but some
think a surprise to his wife as well.
Angeli is Dion’s manager as well as her
husband, and was outed by Jan Jones the
former mayor of Vegas as well as current
Harrah’s Communications VP. She was
using him as an example of someone who
spends a lot of money at the tables and
the slot machines, but can afford to.
She is also the one who supposedly said
that he was spending $1 million a week
on the slot machines and tables.
Most assume the figures are true since
she is a Harrah’s official, but since
casinos are expected to keep that sort
of information confidential, Jones has
probably just found herself in the
middle of a maelstrom. It is widely held
that Vegas casinos never reveal who
their high rollers are, nor do they say
how much they wager.
With this piece having come out of a
gossip column, one has to be someone
skeptical of the validity of the piece.
If it is in fact true, and he does spend
somewhere around $50 million a year at
the slot machines and table games, and
if Dion did not know, then the columnist
has just let the proverbial cat out of
the bag. However, if it isn't true, and
I tend to think it isn't - then someone
owes Mr. Angeli and Mrs. Dion an
apology.
