FirePay Bans Online Gaming Transactions
for Canada
Because of the United States’ ban on
online gambling transactions, other
countries are starting to get into the
loop as well, and one company has just
included the Canadians in the group that
they will no longer service. FirePay has
announced that they will no longer be
servicing their Canadian customers and
it will be effective this week.
When you go on the company’s web site
there is a notice that says that as of
February 21st, the company will no
longer process Canadian consumer
payments to online gaming companies; and
as of February 28th, they will no longer
allow Canadian consumers to receive
payments from the online gaming
companies either.
However, they will allow those with
money sitting in their coffers to use
that money to either pay non-gambling
merchants or have money put into their
bank account. This differs from many US
gamers who are having a tough time
getting their money back from e-wallet
companies that are currently holding
their funds, because of the US
Department of Justice.
Many online companies were still
accepting money from the Canadians, just
not the US, but now with FirePay coming
out of the market, it is expected that
many will eventually follow suit.
