International Game Technology (IGT) is usually on the forefront of new concepts and ideas for slot machines. Therefore it is no surprise that they would have come up with a way to make slot machines more enjoyable and less expensive. For that player who doesn’t really care about winning, but enjoys playing, there is a way for them to keep playing the slot machines – instead of having to stop once their money runs out.

IGT has what is called Guaranteed Play – and people who want to use it will pay for playing time at the slot machines, instead of credits. They will implement it on their video poker slot machines, and will allow players a set number of hands for their money.

You will have a choice of number of hands that you would like to play depending on the game you choose. You can purchase 75 or 150 hands for $20 – as opposed to playing $20 on a conventional slot machine which might give you 16 hands or possibly more depending on how you play.

The biggest difference is that with credits, once you hit zero you end up with game over. With Guaranteed Play, you can go into the negative numbers, because the slot machine runs from hands, not credits. You can cash out for any positive balance you may have earned, but any negative balance wipes out. If you choose to cash out before your hands are done, you forfeit any remaining hands.

IGT says it is just a matter of time before they can use it on video and reel slot machines as well.
