Mohegan Sun’s Slot Machines Performing
Well
The
Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority has
released their operating results for the
quarter ended December 31, 2006, and
they are very pleased with how they have
been performing. The tribe owns and
operates several slot machine casinos
located in Connecticut and Pennsylvania,
and here are the facts:
• They had gross slot machine revenues
of $250.6 million, which is a 15.9%
increase from last year same time.
• Their income from operations of $68.2
million - which is a 0.3% decrease from
same time last year.
• Reported net income of $37.9 million,
which was a 1.1% decrease from last
year, but not enough for the casino to
worry about.
• Opened their second slot machine
casino in Pennsylvania at Mohegan Sun at
Pocono Downs. This is Phase I of their
plan.
• Revenues from non gaming sources were
down - $70.1 million, a 1.8% decrease
from last year
• Showed an increase in first quarter
gaming revenues of 10% or $346.9 million
over last year.
• Obtained approval from Pennsylvania’s
Gaming Control Board for a permanent
Category One Slot Machine License at
Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs in
Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania
• Surprisingly, table games revenues
were down 0.8% or $94.6 million from
last year
Their increased slot machine and overall
revenues were no doubt due to the new
gaming parlor they have opened in
Wilkes-Barre, PA. According to PA
sources, the casino’s slot machines have
brought in more money than the company
and the state thought they would.
