Slot Machine Casino Will Be Biggest and
Take Longest
The
Las Vegas Sands is estimating that their
slot machines will be up and running
July 2008 at the earliest, making them
one of the last to open. The major
difference between this casino and the
others is that not only will they be the
largest – but they will also be waiting
for their permanent location before
opening their doors.
Many of the others are going into a
temporary location and running all or
part of their slot machines in this
location – then moving to a permanent
facility later on. They say the main
difference between them and the other
casinos is that their slot machines
being in a permanent location will
enable them to start making a profit
right away.
However, that profit will come at some
cost – as every other region will have
slot machine revenue coming in already.
The state has already brought in
millions of dollars in slot machine
revenue, as three of those with approved
licenses have already opened, and the
rest will open by the end of 2007.
The other stand alone slot machine
casinos will be opening intermittently
throughout the next two years – with
Mount Airy opening this year and
Majestic Star moving into their
temporary facility by spring 2008. HSP
Gaming will open their slot machine
casino that April, and Foxwoods will
open in November 2008 – making it the
only casino to open after Sands.
