Machine Counter Accused of Theft
The Grand
Lake Casino in Grove has filed a civil
lawsuit against one of their employees
alleging that she stole money from the
casino. They say that their employee,
Pat Mae Culver, is responsible for slot
machine revenue losses in excess of
$420,000.
The suit was filed in Delaware County
District Court in Jay, and they say that
she has stolen hundreds of thousands of
dollars from the casino and they want
restitution. They say that they have
been investigating the matter for the
past three months and they are now ready
to seek repayment.
They said that Culver was responsible
for counting all of the money that came
out of the slot machines and game table
boxes, and then she was to report those
amounts. However, the casino became
suspicious as they were experiencing an
“economic underperformance” at the Grand
Lake Casino.
The casino is owned and operated by the
Seneca-Cayuga Tribe out of Miami,
Florida. Upon investigation, they
noticed that they had several boxes that
contained less money than what they were
supposed to. First there were two boxes
short and then there were four more
boxes short, all from the slot machines.
Each slot machine has an internal device
that tells them how much should be in
the box, and the totals should be equal.
However, Culver was assigned to each of
the boxes in question for them to be
counted, and allegedly they have her on
video tape removing money from the
boxes.
