WMS
Scores in California
With the
voters approving the slot machine
proposals of four of the world’s largest
casinos, Super Tuesday ended up being
anything but dull. The voters approved
the additional slot machines in the
state by an average of 56%-44% - which
not only allows more slot machines now,
but opens up the state to adding more
later on.
There will be up to an additional 17,000
slot machines added to the four casinos,
and WMS Industries will be there to
assist. They have already been informed
that they will be supplying a portion of
the slot machines that will be added to
the state, so they were hoping for an
approval on the measure.
Many thought that the slot machine
proposals would not pass as they found
the number of machines being added to be
absurd. However, Governor Schwarzenegger
was successful in getting the compacts
passed which means he will be able to
get his budget balanced as well.
With many states now adding slot
machines, companies like WMS are poised
to take on a lot of that need. Florida
now has slot machines coming into
Miami-Dade County and the Seminole Tribe
has been approved for them as well. This
means a large influx of slot machines
has to come in, and they are ready to
take on the responsibilities of getting
those machines in.
WMS will likely get at least 25% of the
initial order for California’s slot
machines, and then more over the next
two and a half years. It is not known
how much of Florida they will take as
well, but with International Game
Technologies only expected to take about
50%, you can be sure that WMS will be
lined up for their share.
