Aristocrat Losing Money
For a
long time it was thought that the slot
machine industry would escape the
problems that the rest of the world had.
The economy might be bad, but that
doesn’t mean anything. People will
always want to gamble and when things
started getting bad for everyone else it
really seemed that the only escape that
people had was slot machines.
However, the tide has turned, and not
only do people not have the money to do
a lot of things, but they certainly
don’t have the money to play the slot
machines. Several of the slot machine
companies say that they have started to
see a decrease in the amount of money
that they are bringing in, and many
casinos are just not upgrading the way
they used to.
Aristocrat Leisure Inc. is the latest to
report such news. They say that their
earnings dropped 75% due to the slot
machine industry and the settlement of a
lawsuit. Their income fell as did the
amount of money that they were bringing
in, and combined together it left the
company with very little money coming
in. They are in the process of adding a
new CEO, Jamie Odell, which may or may
not help the slot machine company.
The company is the second largest slot
machine manufacturer in the world, and
if they are experiencing problems like
this you can only imagine what the other
ones are going through. Industry experts
say that it is only going to get worse
from here, but then as the economy
increases so will slot machine revenue.
