When
Legal, They are of Great Benefit
You have
seen the ads in various places around
the country where there is a Vegas
Night, or some other similar wording,
and the proceeds will go to some sort of
charity. They have slot machines and
table games, and people get all dressed
up and go gamble for charity. This is a
great way for the charity to make a lot
of money off of something that people
will do anyway.
Some of them have a price to get in that
the charity gets in addition to whatever
is lost at the slot machines or table
games, and this is good because it
guarantees that no matter how good the
player is, the charity will still make
money off of them. Many people like
these charity events because it gives
them an opportunity to play the slot
machines and table games where they
might not normally do so.
Some don’t have access to them, perhaps
they are too far away, and some just
don’t normally gamble. However, it is
the group that doesn’t normally have
access to slot machines is the one that
is a dying breed. The problem that most
places have is the fact that charities
are running slot machines in a state or
county where they may not be legal.
Many charities have come under fire for
offering slot machines as they are not
legal, and some say that whether it is
for charity or not – they should not be
allowed. They argue that the law is very
clear that slot machines are illegal and
that it should not be broken for anyone.
Others say that the slot machines aren’t
hurting anyone and they are actually
doing good, so why take away something
that helps others. In these cases many
times there are laws on the books that
say that slot machines are legal in a
charity situation only, but others are
running them illegally and these are
those that are finding themselves in
trouble.
