Marylanders Waiting to See Final Bids
It is an
exciting time in Maryland’s government
as people are trying to figure out who
the final bids are going to be for their
slot machines. Not only do they not know
who is bidding on the slot machines,
they aren’t even sure if they are going
to be able to get bids on all of the
sites. It is funny considering the state
has tried for so long to get slot
machines legalized, and now they are and
they don’t know what this means for them
long term.
Some have said that there is only one
real site that is good for slot machines
and that this is the one most people
will bet on. However, the state
disagrees. They said that they see real
possibilities at all of the sites, and
think that they will easily bring in
millions each year.
Monday is the deadline for submitting
those slot machine bids and the state is
hoping that they are higher than they
think they might be. They say that the
amount of money that could come from
these bids could be a significant amount
and thus could greatly help the state’s
economy. They know that times are tough
and that people may not be able to offer
as much as they would have been able to
perhaps a year ago but they are still
hoping for more.
They don’t know which sites are going to
get slot machine bids and the ones that
do may not be what they are hoping for.
They also don’t know if the locations
will want all of the slot machines that
they are allowed. The amount could be as
high as 15,000 slot machines at the five
locations.
