Middle Aged Slot Machine Players

According to a recent study, the number of middle aged women playing the slot machines has increased more than any other age and gender grouping. Due to the high number of online slot machines that they have access to, many feel that it is no wonder that this age group would find themselves hooked on the slot machines. This age group is traditionally women aged 46 to 55, who may have been stay at home moms whose kids have now grown up and they are looking for something else to do to occupy their time.

The study from the Researchers from the International Gaming Research Unit and Nottingham Trent University covered almost 11,000 people over 96 countries during September and October of last year. The study was commissioned by the Online Gaming Regulation and Assurance, as well as eCommerce and the industry chiefs.

They found that women in this grouping played mostly the virtual slot machines, but actually played less money than their male counterparts. They may have played longer, but spent less. The typical internet poker player, however, was male, and in the age range of 26 to 35. This group outnumbered the women almost three to one in each game. They also found that they played online two or three times a week, sometimes more.
