Macao Resort Needs More than Slot Machines

Macao Studio City will have table games and slot machines, but it will not have enough retail clout to draw in the shoppers. The slot machine casino is now looking to get some companies from the mainland to come in at the resort. They know that people will come to Macao to play the slot machines, but they want people to come to the shops as well. They also know that by offering bigger and better stores, people will play their slot machines as opposed to another’s because they have more to offer.

The first phase of the slot machine casino will be done by 2009 – and will have 1,000 slot machines. The second phase will entail more shops, etc. to go with the slot machine casino. The Co-Chairman of Macao Studio City, David Freeman, says that the visitors to the slot machine Mecca of Macao are constantly changing, so you have to be able to offer them something more.

The slot machine casino thinks that if they can bring in the right number of stores, then they can bring in a previously untapped clientele. They would come to shop, but would end up playing the slot machines as well. The slot machine casino is a joint venture between several companies, including Melco-PBL which will manage the slot machine casino.
