Osoyoos Want Slot Machines
The
Town of Osoyoos is joining forces with
the Osoyoos Indian Band to bring in a
slot machine gambling facility. The two
groups are hoping that by showing that
they are united in their quest to get a
slot machine casino that they will gain
permission to do so. The community is
looking to build a slot machine casino
in the south end of the valley, and is
putting together a list of guidelines
that they feel must be followed before
approval.
With this set of guidelines for the slot
machine casino, the groups feel that
they will be able to approve whatever
the B.C. Lottery Corporation tells them.
They felt it was time to join forces and
to work together to come up with an
amicable agreement ever since the tribe
announced they were planning on building
a slot machine casino. The voters had
overwhelmingly already approved 100 more
slot machines at the Rocky Mountain Turf
Club.
The BCLC has not yet approved the slot
machine casino’s application, and the
community thinks that there is not
really a very good chance that they will
approve both the Rocky Mountain and the
Osoyoos tribe’s slot machine
applications. The BCLC suggested that
instead of competing they join forces,
and they have. Once they approve the
slot machine rules and regulations, a
consultant will be hired to pick the
best spot for the slot machine casino.
The two groups are convinced that with
their mutual consent for the location
and the rules of the slot machine casino
that the BCLC will have no problem
endorsing their town for the slot
machine license. It is not guaranteed
that they will get the slot machine
casino, but they feel that they stand a
pretty good chance at one.
