SGI Technology Applied to Slot Machines
Konami Gaming has announced that they
will be using SGI with their slot
machines to give real time player
feedback. The slot machine tracking
software maker has decided that each of
their sites that have more than 300 slot
machines will use the SGI high
performance computing hardware. They are
also using the Oracle Database in 177
casino management systems across the US.
They are planning on seven more SGI
solutions installed in the near future,
and they are moving existing Atix
servers to the Altix Platform. Because
the slot machines are now electronic, it
was just a matter of time before someone
tapped into that market. The new slot
machines will be able to handle better
and better software, which will allow
more challenges to their players.
The slot machines will be able to read
the players’ ID cards and prompt them
about incentives and promotions that the
casino is offering. They will be able to
use the same slot machine software at
other gambling venues as well – such as
Keno and bingo. They can literally track
millions of transactions per day across
all of the slot machines.
The platforms that Konami Casino
Management System runs can track both
carded and un-carded game play – as well
as updating each player’s game trail. It
can give real time responses while the
slot machine is being played – no other
software can accomplish that.
