Teenagers and Women Become Slot Machine
Addicts More Often
The British Medical Association has
determined that women and teenagers are
more likely to become slot machine
addicts than men. They say that the new
supercasino will only add to that slot
machine addiction, and that once
addicted it is almost impossible to cure
someone of the disease. They say that
because of the risk factor in becoming a
slot machine addict for these two
groups, “urgent action is needed.”
Supposedly more than 300,000 people are
already slot machine addicts, and with
the use of the internet and the
proliferation of online gaming sites, it
is easier and easier to become addicted
to the slot machines. It is now possible
to go to a casino and play the slot
machines 24/7 – or just stay at home and
do it online. They claim that health
officials need to do more to curb and
cure the onslaught of slot machine
addicts that the country is about to
face.
They claim that it is incredibly easy
for teenagers to play the slot machines
online, as no one is checking their
ID’s. They simply sign up online and
play the slot machines, and no one is
the wiser for their age. They say that
almost 3/4ths of 12-15 year old
teenagers have played the slot machines
already. They go on to say that roughly
5% of that group has already showed
signs of being addicted to the slot
machines.
They also fear that the easier it is to
play the slot machines at home, the
easier it will be for women to become
addicted. Stay at home moms in
particular are at risk for developing a
slot machine addiction.
