Ontario Making Money and Addicts
It is scary to think that almost 5% of
the adults in Ontario have moderate or
severe problems with slot machines and
gambling. However, it is true. Not only
that, but according to the Ontario
Lottery and Gaming Corp another 10% are
at risk for developing a serious
gambling addiction problem as well.
This is particularly frightening if you
look at the numbers of residents that
are playing the slot machines and
gambling. Almost 64% gamble at least
once a year, which means that more
people are getting hooked on slot
machines and gambling all the time.
They have also found some things that
are universally true for gambling all
over the world – such as the fact that
both men and women share the same
propensity for gambling, and both have
an equal amount of chance of playing.
However, men will spend more money
gambling then women will.
They have also found that people like
the slot machines and casinos in
Ontario. More than 25 million people
each year come to the racetracks and
casinos in Ontario. With 10 casinos, 16
racetracks and more than 20,000 slot
machines to choose from, it is no
wonder.
The government has much to do with those
figures however. They spend more than a
half of a billion dollars every year
promoting the slot machines and gambling
in the province; which undoubtedly is
what brings the people in.
