Seniors Upset with Riley
There has
been a lot of upset in the state of
Alabama since Governor Bob Riley
announced that he was forming a task
force to get rid of “illegal slot
machines” in the state. He said that the
people of Alabama don’t want slot
machines, nor bingo machines in their
backyard and that he was simply acting
on the wishes of his constituents.
However, he may have forgotten to talk
to them first.
It seems that many of the senior
citizens in the state of Alabama are
actually very upset that he would
consider getting rid of the bingo and
slot machines in the state. They say
that his claim that there should be no
gambling is not representative of what
they want. They say that there is no
harm in gambling and they would like to
see to it that the bingo and slot
machines stay.
They say that for there to be no
gambling, then they should get rid of
the state lottery as well, because that
it gambling. They say that Victoryland
is gambling – and want to know if he is
going to close that down as well. They
say that every time they buy a raffle
ticket to some charity event that they
are gambling, so why crack down on the
bingo and slot machines?
They are upset to say the least because
they say that this is how they spend
their free time. They argue that if the
bingo and slot machines bring them some
joy what harm is it doing to anyone
else? They say that the Governor does
not speak for them.
