Stealing for Slot Machines
It is a
constant source of amazement to me that
people who steal think they will get
away with it. Time and time again,
someone rips someone off, usually their
boss, and they think that no one will
ever find out. They think that if they
just take a little here and there that
it will just be their secret – guess
what? It never works that way.
The worst is those that are stealing for
some kind of addiction, like slot
machines or gambling. These people are
addicted to the slot machines so it
isn’t as if they are going to steal that
one time and be done with it. If they
get away with it the first time, the
next time their addiction rears its ugly
head they will do it again.
In this case, it was a woman and a man
who are both addicted to slot machines.
Jamine Alabre of Westbury, New York, and
her boyfriend, Mathurin Ambroise of St.
Albans, NY stand accused of stealing
money to feed their slot machine habit.
Alabre stole $1 million dollars from her
job at a Long Island marketing firm.
They then used the money to play the
slot machines at the Borgata Hotel
Casino and Spa.
Alabre got five years in prison;
Ambroise got three years, after they
both plead guilty to receiving the
stolen money. They were busted after
they went to the Borgata and were
putting large amounts of cash into the
high limit slot machines. A security
guard became concerned and called State
Police.
