Commission Wants Table Games
It
was only a matter of time before table
games became the new slot machines.
First it seemed as though every state
across the
United States
was looking to bring in slot machines –
and many of them did. This was bad
enough news for places like Atlantic City and
Las Vegas as they
knew that their slot machine revenues
were now going to drop. But they also
knew that they still had table games
going for them, even though their slot
machines were going to take a hit.
But
now it seems as though there are many
states looking to add table games to
their slot machines as well.
Pennsylvania has already
approved table games to their line up,
last Friday
Delaware
did as well,
and
now Maryland is looking to add them as well. This
will be particularly tough on
New Jersey as
they have already seen their numbers
drop and taking table games as well will
be disastrous.
But
some are wondering why on earth
Maryland
would be looking to bring in table
games. They say that they have had a
hard enough time trying to bring in slot
machines and that they still don’t have
any of them up and running. They argue
that perhaps they should keep their
focus on the slot machines and once
those are up and running then they can
worry about expanding.
Their
slot machine commission says that they
need to add table games to their slot
machines in order for them to have “real
casinos” and that they wouldn’t be able
to offer that to their residents and
visitors otherwise. Many say that you
don’t build budgets on gambling, and
with them not able to bring the slot
machines to fruition yet that an
expansion at this time might not be the
smartest idea.
