Should
Maryland Give Up?
There
are residents within the state of
Maryland
that would like to see the slot machine
issue taken off of the table. These
people come from both sides of the coin
– some of them voted for the slot
machines and some voted against them.
But they are united in the fact that
they are sick of hearing about slot
machines and would like to see the whole
thing go away. Many of those that voted
and didn’t vote for the slot machines
say that if the state is unable to get
it together to make them legal, how on
earth are they going to run them when
they are up and running?
This
is a valid point. If you have a business
that is running just fine and then you
add a slot machine into it and it causes
all kinds of troubles, you are going to
get rid of that slot machine. This is
how they feel about their government.
There are those that think that it might
be best to avoid all of the problems
that this is creating with the state if
they just let the idea go.
They
see that the state was permitted to
bring in slot machines more than a year
ago and yet there isn’t any running.
They also see that there is a large
percentage of time being spent by their
government to make slot machines happen,
and they are starting to wonder if that
time might not be spent better
elsewhere.
They
know that there is a lot of money
involved in bringing the slot machines
to fruition in the state, but they are
also aware that there is a lot of money
being spent trying to make this happen.
Many are upset that the state signed a
deal with a company to help them with
the slot machines for millions of
dollars when they don’t have the slot
machines yet. They say that if the slot
machines don’t go through in time they
will be left holding the bag.
